Biology Tamil ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website biologytamil.com and the Biology Tamil mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use our mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Personal Information: Name, email address, and profile photo provided through Google Sign-In or email registration.
Usage Data: Course enrollment details, lesson progress, quiz scores, and learning activity within the platform.
Messages You Exchange with Teachers: When you use the "Doubts" feature to ask a biology question, we store the content of that message, the time it was sent, and whether it has been delivered or read. This is described in full in section 4.
Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and IP address for analytics and security purposes.
Payment Information: Transaction details processed securely through our payment partner Razorpay. We do not store your credit/debit card details on our servers.

4. Messages With Teachers ("Doubts")

The "Doubts" feature lets you send a biology question to our teacher, Durai Sir, and read his reply. It is a one-to-one conversation between you and that teacher. We do not use the content of your messages for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for their own purposes.

What is stored: The text of each message you send or receive, the time it was sent, and read/delivery status. The conversation is linked to your account so you can continue it when you sign in again.
Who can read it: You and the teacher you are messaging. Administrators can access conversation content only where required to operate, support, or moderate the platform, or to comply with a legal request.
Links you share: If your message contains a web address, we fetch that page to generate a title, description, and preview image so it displays inside the conversation. Only the address you chose to share is retrieved.
What we ask you not to post: Do not send personal details of other people, or anything you do not have the right to share. Messages are not moderated in advance.
Removal: Deleting your account removes your messages from your view. Messages you sent may be retained in anonymised form where needed to preserve the integrity of the academic record; see section 8.
Reply notifications: If you turn on reply notifications, we store a device registration token supplied by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging so a push alert can be delivered when a teacher replies. It is tied to your account, not to any advertising profile, and we do not use it for any other purpose. You can turn notifications off at any time in Profile, which stops all alerts immediately and removes future delivery. Notification permission is entirely optional: if you decline it, every part of the "Doubts" feature continues to work and replies simply appear in the app when you open it.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on MongoDB Atlas (cloud database) and Firebase (authentication). We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure token-based authentication, and access controls. We also use Sentry for error monitoring to quickly identify and resolve any issues that may affect your experience.

Firebase (Google): Authentication and file storage.
Razorpay: Payment processing (subject to Razorpay's privacy policy).
Arcjet: Security monitoring, bot detection, and rate limiting to protect platform integrity.

Resend: Transactional email delivery (Welcome, Enrollment, Security alerts).
Vercel: Website hosting and performance analytics.
PostHog: Product analytics to improve user experience.

We use essential cookies to maintain your login session (auth_token). We also use analytics cookies through PostHog and Vercel to understand how users interact with our platform. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect your ability to use certain features.

8. Your Rights & Account Deletion

In compliance with Google Play Store policies and regional privacy laws, we provide a clear and simple way to manage your data:

Access & Correction: You can update your profile information at any time within the "Profile" section of the Biology Tamil app.
Request Deletion: You can request full account and data deletion directly through the app settings or by emailing diamonddurai@gmail.com.
30-Day Safe Period: For security and to prevent accidental data loss, deletions enter a 30-day "Safe Period." You can cancel the deletion at any time during this window.
Permanent Removal: After 30 days, your Personal Information (Name, Email, Profile ID) is permanently purged or anonymized.
Academic Record Integrity: To preserve the platform's academic integrity, record of quiz scores and lesson progress are dissociated from your identity but kept as anonymous statistical data.

9. Children's Privacy

Our platform (Biology Tamil) is professionally designed for students preparing for NEET examinations (typically aged 15-19 years). We do not target children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, request, or solicit personal information from children under 13. If we discover an account has been created by a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that account immediately.

Biology Tamil does not sell, trade, or rent your personal user data to third-party advertisers.

Your data is used exclusively for the operational and educational purposes of the platform. We do not use your personal information for targeted advertisements outside of the Biology Tamil ecosystem.
